The Volkl Peregrine 79 is an advanced ski for men designed to cut through groomed snow with ease. The design includes a 3D.Ridge and centre sidewall to reduce weight and maintain stability. A P-Tex 2100 base combined with a dual wood core and GripWalk-compatible WideRide XL bindings is designed for playful yet sporty skiing. The wideride system is wider than a conventional binding, so steering forces are transferred more quickly to the ski edges.
The modern design and high-quality materials make the Völkl Peregrine 79 a reliable companion for anyone who wants to take their skiing skills to the next level. With this ski, you can enjoy every day on the slopes and be both sporty and playful at the same time.
Specifications for Volkl Peregrine 79 Skis with Wideride 12 Bindings
Base P-Tex 2100
A sintered high-density and high molecular polyethylene base with great gliding characteristics and high durability.
Centre sidewall
Direct and strong power transmission with partial sidewalls in the center of the ski, combined with the superslim 3D.Ridge construction.
Tip & Tail Rocker
Character: Bends up only in the shovel and tail zones, with a camber shape in the middle.
3D.Ridge
Central Woodcore Ridge with superslim wings to significantly reduce weight and swing weight and keep the stability where necessary. Our 3D.Ridge technology - is probably the most extreme and effective construction technique that currently exists. It has become a symbol of VÖLKL lightweight construction. The distinctive characteristic of this technology is a raised central ridge that sharply levels out towards the edges, both in front of and behind the binding. This reduces the inertial mass around the fulcrum to a minimum and significantly enhances the agility of the ski. At the same time, the center ridge allows for a precise dimensioning of the hardness distribution, which leads to an especially harmonious flex on the ski. Despite the weight savings, the 3D.Ridge ensures that there are no compromises in the ski‘s durability and elasticity.
Glass Frame
The Glass Frame offers a wide range of skiers effortless access to dynamics and sportiness while serving stability and shock absorbtion in the shovel and tail area of the ski.
iPT Wideride
Marker and Völkl developed the iPT Wideride system with a contact surface width 30% greater than standard. On top of that, the binding is mounted significantly closer to the edge of the ski. This helps the energy flow more directly and continuously to the edges. They make wider skis more agile, responsive and easier to control. The skis are better in tune with the skier’s signals and application of pressure and edge for a precise and powerful characteristic. DIN-ISO: 4.0-12.0.

Ski Buyers Guide
Buying a pair of skis doesn't need to be a daunting experience. When buying a pair of skis, there are a few simple pieces of information that will help you to find your perfect match. With the introduction of carving skis and new technology, ski length is based more on the user’s weight than the tradition of using your height. Combine this with your ski level and your aspirations and this will help narrow your choice very quickly. Follow these simple steps:
STEP 1 - ABILITY
Firstly choose your current skiing level from the list below:
1 - Never skied before
2 - I can stop with a snowplough
3 - I am doing snowplough turns, and the odd blue run
4 - I am starting to parallel ski and onto blue runs
5 - I am venturing onto reds, and starting to make step turns
6 - I am getting confident on reds, and maybe doing the odd black
7 - I am comfortable skiing most black runs
8 - I am confortable on ice, and venturing off-piste
9 - I am skiing off-piste aggresively, and carving across all pistes
10 - I am a professional experienced ski instructor or racer
Here at The Skiers Lounge we then brake this down into 4 groups:
- NOVICE (Level 1 to 4)
- INTERMEDIATE (Level 4-6)
- ADVANCED (Level 6-8)
- EXPERT (Level 8-9)
- PROFESSIONAL (Level 10)
STEP 2 - TERRAINNow you know your skier level, you can decide where you will mainly be using your new skis:
- - Groomed Piste Runs
- - All snow conditions (From ice to slush)
- - All mountain skiing conditions (piste and off-piste)
- - Off-piste skiing (powder)
- - Ski touring
STEP 3 - SKI LENGTH
For selecting the correct ski length, we take your ability, weight and where you will use the skis, and can calculate an approximate length:
STEP 3 - FINAL ADJUSTMENT FOR SKILL LEVELThe final calculation- For
NOVICE skiers, this is your recommended length. For
INTERMEDIATE and
ADVANCED skiers we recommend adding 5cm to the above measurement, and for
EXPERT and
PROFESSIONAL skiers you would normally add 10cm to the above length and a little more for freeride skis.
