The Extrem Project 90 is a versatile all mountain ski with a confident edge grip on harder snow, but still with a playful character and a quick transition from edge to edge. The Project 90 is created for the demanding and constantly changing conditions of the mountain, with hard but grippy groomers early winter, and soft slush later in spring.
The Project 90 has a construction optimized for lighter skiers with a perfect balance between edge grip and stability, at the same being easy to handle. The foundation is an all mountain ski with a slight rocker in the tip and tail, but in a narrower version. This gives it a playful character with the option to alternate between carving and skidding turns depending on the conditions or the terrain.
The base of the construction is a wood core made from snappy poplar wood (the unisex version has an addition of heavier beech wood). The outstanding edge grip and torsional rigidity comes from two layers of full-width Titanal. Race rubber dampening minimizes vibrations.
The Project 90 is a ski packed with both edge grip and playful fun, a perfect combination for a wide array of skiers.
Technical Specifications for Extrem Project 90 All-Mountain Skis
Poplar Wood CoreThe knot free, vertically laminated wood of snappy poplar is a medium lightweight core that gives a playful character of the skis. Combined with Titanal the skis become stiffer and torsional rigid yet keep its playfulness. Without Titanal the skis are just super playful. A CNC-milled and integrated 55x650 mm wood plate of beech secures the mounting of the binding.
Titanal To increase performance in terms of superior edge grip and high-speed stability, Extrem add 0,4 mm Titanal to the construction. Titanal is the highest strength aluminium-alloy manufactured in an industrial standard process, originally developed for the aerospace industry. Titanal is a registred trademark, owned and produced by AMAG Austria Metall AG.
Race Rubber Dampening To minimize vibrations in hard snow conditions, such as icy slopes and wind packed off-piste, Extrem use 1,5 mm race rubber dampening in the tip and tail from Austrian Haberkorn GmbH. They also use 0,2 mm rubberfoil in the skis to further strengthen the construction and increase bonding between different materials.
Prepreg Glass Fiber Extrem are quite unique in their use of dry Prepreg epoxy resins instead of letting their employees handle liquid epoxy when building skis, which is otherwise common practice in the ski industry. Their glass fiber rolls come industrially permeated with HexPly M78 from their supplier Hexcel, a world-leading producer of advanced composite material for the aerospace industry. This results in a dry, safe and great work environment for their ski builders and significantly increases the quality of the skis.
Austrian Race Base Extrem like to use the highest quality Isospeed 7515 race bases from Austrian Isosport GmbH. These running bases are made of ultra-high density polyethylene with high quality graphite for best gliding properties in a wide range of conditions.
Extra Thick Steel Edges For maximum durability of their skis, Extrem purchase one piece steel edges from the well renowned Waelzholz GmbH, who have manufactured steel edges in Germany for over 50 years. They use their extra thick and durable Profile 132 that is 2,3 mm high and 2,2 mm wide for all models except Fusion 95 Carbon Ultra, where a 1,9 mm high and 1,5 mm wide edge is used to minimize weight.
Extra Wide ABS Sidewall For maximum durability of their skis, Extrem use extra wide 8,5 mm ID 2500 ABS sidewalls from Austrian Isosport GmbH (compared to the ski industry standard width of 5-6 mm).
Top Sheet For best wear performance and abrasion resistance, sublimated 0,55 mm Isocap ICP 8210 top sheets with structured surface from Austrian Isosport GmbH is used.
