The Extrem Project 83 ski is one of the standout all-conditions piste skis of the modern era. Although Extrem are not as well a known brand as some others here in the UK, they choose to invest in ski development and class leading production over marketing, resulting in this durable, powerful and super agile ski.
Classified as an "all-mountain" ski by Extem, it is indeed fully capable of messing around off the sides and between runs, but the Extreme 83 belongs on both corduroy smooth and chopped up pistes 90% of the time.
Handmade in Are Sweden, Extrem is a sought after brand by those in the know, and this ski is our current "ski of the year" after testing many skis over the past season.
This is the all-conditions ski for you if you ride 90% on piste and 10% off the sides as you wish.
The Project 83 is Extrem's take on a groomer ski, developed and created in Are, Sweden, for the fun in and the feeling of making perfect carving turns no matter the snow conditions. Icy pre-season slopes, spring slush, fresh morning corduroy or chopped up snow after lunch – the Project 83 can handle it all. It’s a ski shaped for the kind of groomer skiing we like ourselves, and often encountered in northern Scandinavia. Conditions that call for a ski that you can trust skiing from first lift to last, without compromises.
The Project 83 is a modern on-piste ski borrowing traits from an all mountain ski with a slight rocker in both the tip and tail. This gives it a playful character and the possibility to alternate between carving and skidding turns depending on the conditions or the terrain.
The basis of the construction is a wood core made from snappy poplar wood and stable, dampened, beech. The outstanding edge grip and the torsional rigidity come from two full-width layers of Titanal. Race rubber dampening in the tip and tail minimizes vibrations.
The Project 83 is a ski that holds its own from skiing from first to last chair, and just begs for more.
What We Say
"I have tested a lot of skis over the past 18 years. I am certainly not an outstanding skier, putting myself down as a level 7. I am just like the majority of customers who visit our showroom for boot fits and ski purchases. I don't live on the mountains. I have to ski sometimes in poor piste conditions often at the tip and the tail of the season as running a ski business leaves little time to ski. I want a ski that pushes me without punishing me and feels completely in control and yet taunting me to push it harder. I hardly ever go off piste, and my favourite run is a perfectly groomed shapely red or blue, such as Folyeres which heads into La Tania, in the 3 Valleys. And the Extrem 83 is the perfect match for me - and may well be for you too!I own a pair of these skis in a 176cm, I am 6ft tall. My ski is available to try subject to a deposit and terms & conditions so please visit the showroom or call us to discuss this further. And please look after them!"

FeaturesPoplar and Beech Wood Core Construction
The knot free, vertically laminated wood core of snappy poplar and stable beech gives a playful yet dampened character of the skis. Combining this with Titanal means performance, calmness and superior edge grip.
Titanal Laminate Layer
To increase performance in terms of superior edge grip and high-speed stability, Extrem add 0,4 mm Titanal to the construction. Titanal is the highest strength aluminium-alloy manufactured in an industrial standard process, originally developed for the aerospace industry. Titanal is a registred trademark, owned and produced by AMAG Austria Metall AG.
Race Rubber Dampening Tip and Tail
To minimise vibrations in hard snow conditions, such as icy slopes and wind packed off-piste, we use 1,5 mm race rubber dampening in the tip and tail from Austrian Haberkorn GmbH. Extrem further also use 0,2 mm rubberfoil in the skis to further strengthen the construction and increase durability between different materials.
Glass Fibre with Pre-Preg Epoxy Resin
We are quite unique to use dry Prepreg epoxy resins instead of letting our employees handle liquid epoxy when building skis, which is otherwise practice in the ski industry. Our glass fiber rolls come industrially impregnated with HexPly M78 from our supplier Hexcel, a world-leading producer of advanced composite material for the aerospace industry. This results in a dry, safe and great work environment for our ski builders and significantly increases the quality of the skis with more consistency through the length of the ski.
Austrian Manufactured Sintered 7515 Race Base
We all like to ski fast! Therefore, Extrem use highest quality Isospeed 7515 race bases from Austrian Isosport GmbH. These running bases are made of ultra-high density polyethylene with high quality graphite for best gliding properties in a wide range of conditions.
Extra Thick Steel Edges
For maximum durability of our skis, we purchase one piece steel edges from the well renowned Waelzholz GmbH, who have manufactured steel edges in Germany for over 50 years. We use their extra thick and durable Profile 132 that is 2,3 mm high and 2,2 mm wide for durability and longer life, allowing you to tune and reset edges frequently too.
Extra Wide ABS Racing Sidewalls
For maximum durability of our skis, Extrem use extra wide 8.5mm ID 2500 ABS sidewalls from Austrian Isosport GmbH compared to the ski industry standard width of 5-6mm.
Top Sheets
For best wear performance and abrasion resistance, Extrem use sublimated 0,55 mm Isocap ICP 8210 top sheets with structured surface from Austrian Isosport GmbH.
