Holmenkol's Racing Mix Cold Ski Wax in this 150g block version is a high performance fluorinated ski racing and training wax for very cold conditions and abrasive coarse snow conditions to ensure optimum glide.
The racing wax series is based on Holmenkol's best-selling hydrocarbon range, with the addition of fluorocarbon (the main component of non-stick Teflon) to keep glide at a premium. This COLD version features a hard wax with a little fluorocarbon added to the wax to ensure maximum glide in very cold conditions, with temperatures well below freezing and snow temperatures of around -10°C to -25°C.
Although labelled as a racing ski wax, this wax is ideal for skiers and snowboarders wanting maximum performance in very cold conditions. It offers maximum dirt and water repellence for those conditions, helping ensure glide and protecting your bases.
For this wax you should ONLY use a ski waxing iron, and setting your iron to 145°C for optimum application and protection of ski bases. This is very close to the maximum temperature that should be used for any length of time on a ski so do not use anything other than a quality waxing iron!
This is the 150g workshop block of this wax that comes in a handy storage and transport case so that your wax is kept clean and can be taken to the mountain.
We recommend cleaning the iron thoroughly before use, and also using a well ventilated area and for frequent use a waxing mask due to the presence of fluorocarbons.
As this is a hard wax, structuring can be undertaken using a variety of wax brushes to give different structure depths, and a brass brush will really open up the structure if you are skiing or snowboarding in and out of the shade of the mountain.
