The most versatile all-mountain freerider in state-of-the-art construction with an extremely wide range of use for experienced skiers.
The Mantra comes with a revised geometry from its previous incarnation as the Kendo 88, and a centre radius shortened by one metre in the 3D Radius Sidecut. The three different radii combined in one ski generally ensure enormously versatile cornering characteristics. The 16m radius in the centre increases the radius variability even more. Lovers of tight, fully edged, cut turns in particular will get their money's worth here. This allows for a particularly sporty, intuitive skiing style on groomed pistes, but also ensures the necessary manoeuvrability for better manoeuvrability in demanding terrain. Thanks to the shortened centre radius, less effort is also required. The Mantra 88 also features Tailored Carbon Tips and a Tailored Titanal Frame, making it clear that fun is the Mantra's middle name.
The Tailored Titanal Frame, which is used on the Mantra and Secret range is a further development of the familiar Titanal frame. With this design, the width of the Titanal topsheet can be adapted to the length of the ski and the resulting torsional rigidity as well as the required damping behaviour for the skier. The proportion of Titanal is reduced for shorter ski lengths, so that smaller or lighter skiers can also get the most out of their skis with little effort. The Mantra 88 is extremely versatile thanks to the Tailored Carbon Tips. The carbon fibres applied using the Tailored Fibre Placement process (TFP for short) allow optimum control of cornering behaviour. The thickness and orientation of the fibres define the required force and energy build-up exactly where it is needed. The agile blade retraction is a particularly positive feature. This means that the ski can be skied round the bend in a controlled and easy manner as soon as the turn is initiated. You could say you just think about changing direction and it's done. In addition, this construction enables a lower weight without any loss of stability.
Also built into the Mantra 88 with tip & tail rocker is the tried-and-tested Multilayer Woodcore, surrounded by a continuous sidewall and P-Tex 2100 base.
Our Ski Testers Opinion
A stunning all mountain ski. Agile, planted and superb through the turns - it carves as if on rails. The Mantra 88 gives you ample confidence to tackle everything and doesn't hang around when pushed either. This ski ranked equal first on my ski test score cards this season.

Ski Buyers Guide
Buying a pair of skis doesn't need to be a daunting experience. When buying a pair of skis, there are a few simple pieces of information that will help you to find your perfect match. With the introduction of carving skis and new technology, ski length is based more on the user’s weight than the tradition of using your height. Combine this with your ski level and your aspirations and this will help narrow your choice very quickly. Follow these simple steps:
STEP 1 - ABILITY
Firstly choose your current skiing level from the list below:
1 - Never skied before
2 - I can stop with a snowplough
3 - I am doing snowplough turns, and the odd blue run
4 - I am starting to parallel ski and onto blue runs
5 - I am venturing onto reds, and starting to make step turns
6 - I am getting confident on reds, and maybe doing the odd black
7 - I am comfortable skiing most black runs
8 - I am confortable on ice, and venturing off-piste
9 - I am skiing off-piste aggresively, and carving across all pistes
10 - I am a professional experienced ski instructor or racer
Here at The Skiers Lounge we then brake this down into 4 groups:
- NOVICE (Level 1 to 4)
- INTERMEDIATE (Level 4-6)
- ADVANCED (Level 6-8)
- EXPERT (Level 8-9)
- PROFESSIONAL (Level 10)
STEP 2 - TERRAINNow you know your skier level, you can decide where you will mainly be using your new skis:
- - Groomed Piste Runs
- - All snow conditions (From ice to slush)
- - All mountain skiing conditions (piste and off-piste)
- - Off-piste skiing (powder)
- - Ski touring
STEP 3 - SKI LENGTH
For selecting the correct ski length, we take your ability, weight and where you will use the skis, and can calculate an approximate length:
STEP 3 - FINAL ADJUSTMENT FOR SKILL LEVELThe final calculation- For
NOVICE skiers, this is your recommended length. For
INTERMEDIATE and
ADVANCED skiers we recommend adding 5cm to the above measurement, and for
EXPERT and
PROFESSIONAL skiers you would normally add 10cm to the above length and a little more for freeride skis.
